3.6 The form menu

The form management system of  Siteseed allows for the creation of HTML forms for many purposes. As happens with other back office tools, forms are created using the HTML language, which can be created in any HTML editor.

Forms created in the form editor are inserted into the website, retrieved from page objects, using the command INSERT form.

The form menu is used for the creation and editing of the following types of forms:

  • Comment forms – a form used to gather comments from visitors to a website. The comment forms are usually associated to an article, but they can also be used in a page object to create discussion forums or message sections, a guest book or other.

  • Forms with e-mail processing – a form used to gather data from visitors to the website and its processed content is sent to one or more e-mail accounts.

  • User registration forms – a form used for the registration of system users which allows access to be blocked to certain areas of the website, according to whether or not the users are registered.

  • Login forms – a form used to authenticate website users.

    3.6.1 The creation of forms

To create a new form. Select the ‘New’ option in the backoffice form menu.

The form edit screen is divided into two text boxes, one to insert the form title and a second to insert the HTML code. Below there is a panel for the selection of the type of form to be created, as well as buttons to 'Save' and to 'Preview' the form. On the right side of the editor are the references to macros necessary for users form type .

In the backoffice form editor, the 'form' and '/form' tags are never inserted, hence, the inserted code is to be that contained between the aforementioned tags.

Each type of form implies the use of specific macros; hence each form type is individually specified.
