ssfaq (Siteseed on-line FAQ) - a Siteseed sample site...

SSFAQ - The siteseed on line FAQwww.siteseed.org is actually a mix of three diferent sites (the main site, slashmydot demo and the FAQ). This is a dump of the FAQ (both the siteseed install directory and the database data) as it was on 09-05-2002.

You can download the complete SQL dump, along with a installed siteseed (v1.4.5) here:

  • ssfaq.tgz (347664 bytes) contains the MySQL dump (create a database called "ssfaq" and import the dump) and a complete Siteseed install (just edit the config.php file to suit your needs and change the "admin" password)...

  •

    SlashMyDot (v2) - a siteseed sample site...

SlashMyDot screenshotSiteseed is a full CMS system. It is not a "weblog" package, it is not optimized or oriented to do that. You can however use and extend the concept using Siteseed.

Slashdot is THE weblog system. Slashcode, the software it uses, it is very optimized for the job, and it handles more requests than any other "weblog" software. This sample page is a tribute to Slashdot.

When Siteseed was released one question was asked by several users. Can we use siteseed as a "weblog" to produce something like "Slashdot"? Siteseed could not do it since it lacked a forum system (whith threads and moderation among users) and topic based navigation... now it can!

Siteseed v1.1 (or higher) has both and we made a quick look-a-like system (it is not a complete example; we did not made it fully functional and skipped the easy stuff like suggest an article and such) to show how to implement both features on Siteseed. It also shows how to handle logins, how to handle e-mail verification, etc. You can check it out on http://www.siteseed.org/slashmydot.

You can download the complete SQL dump, along with a installed siteseed (v1.4.5) here:

  • slashmydot.tgz (285002 bytes) contains the MySQL dump (create a database called slashmydot and import the dump) and a complete Siteseed install (just edit the config.php file to suit your needs and change the "admin" password)...
